Now you're probably already wondering why you would want to do such a thing. Have you ever had a group photo taken. No matter how many you take you always have someone blink, or frown, or cleaning their teeth. . . . what if you could take the best photo and just swap out the face of the 1 or 2 people who blinked. Saweet right? Here we go!
This is best to do pre edited since once you start changing levels it may be harder to match. We'll fix levels and anything else after we have our new face in place.
Surprisingly I have very few group pictures. But I did find this one of my Grandparents with a bunch of their great grandkids.
We finally got this picture with at least most of the kids facing the right direction. Unfortunately Grandma blinked.
No problem. We have this photo with her eyes open.
Because Grandma hasn't really moved in the two photos and the lighting is the same, we can easily swap her face in the second one to the the one in the first.
So lets take the face that we want. Use the lasso tool and select it. Select a little extra than you plan to use.
Then copy (Ctrl c) & Paste (Ctrl V) it into the picture your using on a new layer.
Line it up best you can, but as you can see it's not really blending just right. Lets work on that. my new face looks slightly darker so lets lighten it up a bit.
Image - adjustments - Brightness/Contrast
Wow! That already worked better than I expected! Now lets just blend some of the lines in.
Using a mask the way I've showed before, or just using an eraser make your brush fairly medium and soft edged, ease around your new face.
And here we have it!
In case you wanted to see, here is just the new face layer just so you can see how I blended my edges.
When you do this you may need to even make the new face a little bigger or smaller to fit just right. Use transform to fit it just right.
Now merge your layers and then you can edit your levels or colors or anything else it needs.
Now there's a good looking group photo!
