How does persnicketyprints works ???

So I wanted to try persnicketyprints services for and hybride project I saw at thehybridchick ... I registered and started the upload process ... They have this scale on each pics that show-up letting us know the "quality" and the size that this pic can be printed at for best results ... I'm chocked to see that my last LO (done one PSE8 600x600pi, 12x12inch, 300pi/in) shows 3 "red squares" meaning not good to print bigger than 4x6 !!!???

What's going on ???
What should I do ???

Thank you for your answers

Thats odd - I've never seen that...I guess double check that you didnt accidently save over your original when you saved one for the web? IDK - GOOD LUCK!

Yeah that's odd. I have never had that problem at PP. Check the file that you are trying to upload for size...how many KB's or MB's is it? If it's KB's...it's really small.

If it is 12x12 inches and 300 dpi, it should be 3600 x 3600 pixels. 600x600 pixels is thumbnail size. There is something weird w/ these proportions. This may be your problem. I'd take a look at that.

I'm thrilled that they "warn" you, LOL. I've accidentally uploaded web sizes before and would have been UNhappy with the quality ;).

Hope that helps.

wow, goodness !!! I had save this LO with extention .psd too so I open it and re-saved it ... It is dimension: 3600x3600, size: 8.2MB ...
ok, now of to Persnicketyprints ...
Still not sure what happen the first time !?!?!? Maybe I don't know how to save from PSE ??? So can someone give me a little tut on saving LO ???

Thank you.

I bet you just got mixed up with saving it as 600x600 for uploading to a gallery :)
Whenever I save I do it in three steps:
1. Save the PSD file.
2. Click "save as" then select JPEG from the drop down file type and click save. That saves your FULL SIZE image for printing as a flattened file.
3. Resize my image to 600x600 pixels at 72dpi, then click, "Save for Web" and make sure my file size is under 150kb. Then I make sure I add "web" to the end of my file name so I never overwrite my full res image.
I hope that helps! I'm glad you still had your PSD!

My process is similar to Char. Kicker is adding "web" to end of name so you don't overwrite the full size. Mine will be "LayoutName" for full size and "LayoutName_web" for gallery size. Glad you got it worked out! Hope that got things straightened out for you and you are off to print!

Does the GingerScrap discount also works on canvas ???
Thank you ...
yes it sure does. It works for any purchase made at PP :) You will not be disappointed when your order arrives! They are the best printers!! Amazing quality and customer service!

yes i was so nervous the first time i printed anything it was with PP and i was sooo pleased right off the bat with how they ship even, they make sure your prints are safe and sound! then when you see the awesome quality its beautiful, it will look just like it does on your screen they have a very very tiny crop margin so you dont have to worry about losing half the layout to bleed and crop, their prints are also water proof!!

I just remembered that I have a $10 gift certificate to PP. It's almost a year old. I hope they'll still take it. I need to get busy and decide what to print!

Thanks everyone for helping fdgtgrl! Pixels and inches require Math- which (Chari here) was never my favorite subject!
Jenevang is exactly right- if you have 300 ppi/dpi - that's "per inch"- so 12 inches would be multiplied by 300.
Thus, your most optimal image to print would be 3600x3600 for a 12x12.
600x600 would maybe look ok printed as a wallet.
You can always email us ([email protected]) if you have any questions!
Also- you guys here at Gingerscraps get 25% off this weekend- exclusively! That makes your 12x12 print only $1.49:) Ends Sunday
