Are you a fan of listening to books instead of reading them? (If so, I'm incredibly jealous -- I don't get enough quiet time to listen to anything, lol) I must admit, though, I know many book lovers - and they all say that sometimes, the experience of "listening" to a book is so much better than "reading" it.

Signing up with audible.com allows you to use your amazon.com account to download audio books to listen to at your convenience. Even better? No need to put a good book down! You move from cooking to running to commuting, and now your book can, too: switch back and forth between the Kindle version and the Audible audiobook without ever losing your place.

Find any great audio books and/or audio book deals you want to share with us?

Here's a few recommended by WendyBird:

My favorite audiobooks are:
The Help (Octavia Spencer who just won the Oscar for Minny also narrates the part)
Southern Vampire Series (Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood)
Water for Elephants
The Hunger Games series
World War Z
Dean Koontz's Frankenstein series (the first 3. They switched narrators for 4 & 5 and they're not near as good)

My 13 yo DS also loves to listen with me. Our faves to listen to together are:
Ender's Game
Ender's Shadow
Percy Jackson & the Olympians series
The Bartimaeus Trilogy
Artemis Fowl series
Skullduggery Pleasant series

We love audio books!!
We really like the narrator Luke Daniels we have listened to all the books by Neal Shusterman books, and totally enjoy the narration by Luke Daniels!

My son just finished listening to The Hobbit (he has read the book too) but wanted to listen to it again before we went to the movie. He loved the audio book!

I love listening to audio books in the car!

I have really enjoyed the Harry Potter series.

It's kid friendly, so it's about one of the only books I can listen to since my kids are always with me! lol

I have recently become an Audible.com listener and love it! I can never find the time to actually sit down and read so audiobooks are the perfect solution for my needs!

I love Audible.com. I listen to books all the time while ironing, cooking, gardening... you name it... awesome evxperience! Now I understand why my kids love it when I read to them :))

Me too. My readers have to have English accents, though. I have some fabulous series I listen to. I listen while cleaning house, walking the dog, driving.... and ESPECIALLY when downloading products after a sale!!

Our family has been listening for at least 16 years in the car! Our family LOVED the series of Unfortunate Events!! Another good one was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. And of course the Harry Potter series. I am also looking for some new books to listen to, now that the kids are in college and out of the car. lol
We did this for free with CD's from the library..

I listen to audio books all the time. I have looked into audible, but right now I am happy getting books from my library.
A few years ago, I got a kindle -- I thought I would hate it (I used to download audio books/CD to itunes, then export to a USB so I could listen in the car. it was time consuming) but I actually love it. I never knew that all I needed was an aux cable to plug into the car -- that way i can hear the audio book thru my car speakers. it is amazing for me. I listen all the time when I am driving alone. I get audio books for my daughter and me to listen to together in the car. When I am waiting to pick my daugther up from acitvities, I get to listen to books and relax. I find that it is wonderful for me to switch from super loud music that everyone else wants to listen to, and simply enjoy a book by myself.
I am lucky because my library has a huge selection. i am able to borrow audio books from any library location in the county -- when it is ready I get a notification and I get three weeks to listen.

If you liked Harry Potter, my daughter (and I) love the Forgotten Library series -- I think there are four books in the series.
We also listened to the Septimus Heap series, which is also a magical world. There are seven in that series and another series followed that called Tod Hunter Moon. I think I liked them even more than my daughter. I would listen ahead when I was alone, and then go back and re-listen with here where we left off. I found that a lot of the children's books are really entertaining for me as well. The other magical series we listened to was Charlie Bone -- all three are really wonderful, especially if you are a Harry Potter fan -- I bought those to have available to listen to whenever we wanted.
