Default Renaming files in Photoshop Elements 6

I have PSE 6 and rename files using the process multiple files option. Normally I can do it without a problem, but lately, when I try to process the files an alpha for example, that i want to rename from a.png to NAB_SS_UPPER_A.png -- the files says PNG, but it's making it like a .jpeg instead...where it's not transparent and you can't use it to insert into a LO. I hope this makes sense to someone. Any ideas?

Same here. The only thing I can think of is that the file type is being saved as a .jpeg, but your name is .png. Does that make sense? So it would end up being NAB_SS_UPPER_A.png.jpeg. I'm not sure if that is even possible. I have never tried saving it like that before. But I know it does do weird stuff sometimes!
