    Default Template photomats

How do I get rid of the photomat that seems to be the norm for templates these days? I absolutely abhor them most of the time because they make it hard for me to change to different colors or patterns of paper instead of using white all the time. I know I have a tip for unlocking the photo layer from the photomat layer, but I can't seem to find it on my 'puter at the moment. Will someone please help me?

Try this. Click on the photo layer to have it active in the layers palette. The little fx is to the right.
Click it and you will see which layer styles are added to that layer.
Most likely...you will see stroke and drop shadow.
Click on it and you can change the color.
Close the eyeball of the one that says stroke. Poof it's gone.

    OR
If you want the stroke in a different color. Right click on stroke and from the dialog pop up > create layer.

It will say something about something might not be available, but click ok anyhow. This places the stroke on its own layer. Move to where you wish.

    hope this helps.
