Default Anyone do Elf On the Shelf?

This will be our third year with our elf. I have several ideas pinned on my Pinterest and am excited to get started.

If you have/use the elf, what do you do with him? Does he come out early? Dec 1st? or do you just do a few weeks of mischief?

My kids love looking for him every morning. Last year, two nights DH and I forgot..lol....going to have to be more on the ball this year. DD is still only 5 so she will be right into it. DS is 13 and he's ready to "help" with ideas and activities for Buddy the Elf.

I'm hoping DD buys the elf ( or I will) as I bought a kit! David is only 2.

I learned about the idea some days ago. What a cute tradition. I will check your pinterest for ideas, because I see a kit coming soon.

YES We've done it for several years now. Sometimes he's naughty, sometimes he's funny, and sometimes he brings fun treats!

My daughter (well all my kids) but she specifically said the other day, I can't wait till December, because I hope Chippy comes back! and my son, (oldest) being the particular kid he is, says, "Well technically advent starts in November, so sometimes he comes in November!"

We do it. Tyler is full of antics. I can show off some pictures when I'm not mobile 😊

Dani...here is a bit of an explanation for the Elf.

He is sent by Santa to make sure all little ones are being good and enjoying the spirit of good will and Christmas. Every night, the elf goes back to the north pole to report to Santa that "his or her" charges are being good and living with the Christmas Spirit. (Peace, being kind, giving, loving etc).

The premise is that when the elf returns, he has moved....or he gets bored and gets into some mischief (this is how we do it) because he is still wide awake from his journey to see Santa at the North Pole.
Children are NOT allowed to touch the elf or he/she loses her Christmas magic and won't be able to move.

If you google the story of Elf on a shelf, you will be able to get a better idea...this is just what we do based loosely on the book.

I have a ton of photos too of my elf..I will upload some.
