I name my layouts according to the date of the photo. My format is year_monthnumber_month_name of layout.
An example: 2012_9_Sep_Life Is Beautiful
If I know the specific day the photo was taken I include that too, like this:
2012_9_Sep2_Life Is Beautiful
I came up with this format, because I wanted them to display in order by date.
If I'm using a template, I keep that. If not, I name for the reason:
ss092612 would be for a speed scrap today![]()
CURRENT CT FOR: Gingerscraps Store {PLUS ADMIN DUTIES!}, Pretty in Green, Inspired Designs, Roseytoes Designs
It's probably a matter of what is the most comfortable way. I go one step ahead and besides the tagged folders and subs, I have a txt file. Every LO I make and upload I jot down all the details. Date, name, Kit, and so forth. I know it can be a little bit time consuming, not much, but then I have everything on one page, not only in folders.
And I have a photo gallery on Pinterestalso a great way of tracking.
My conclusion is tagging by date first. Sorting by date is also a great idea. Depending on the time, there are many ways.

I have a folder for each child. If the layout consists of JUST their photo(s) it is labeled with their name, month and year, as well as something about it to keep them in chronological order. For example:
Baleigh_August2012_FirstDayOfSchool01
Madalyn_August2012_FirstDayOfSchool01
And then if both of the girls are in the layout, the naming is different as it goes in to a "Girl's" album
Girls_August2012_FirstDayOfSchool01
I guess with the baby coming and it being being a boy, I'll have to change this around a little. But for now, all these years, that's how I scrapped.
I have a folder for my husband's Army layouts (including deployments, moving, etc)
A Family folder which has photos of just my husband and I, layouts about him, layouts about me, layouts about our whole family such as family photos, etc.
I have a P52 Folder, which are dated by the weeks
I also have Vacation's folder which has the many different vacations for example
West_Sept2012_DeathValley_Racetrack01
DC_July2010_WashingtonMonument01
So when I look at them, all the trips are together and in dated order as well as theme. When I put my albums together, its just pulling the pages together, putting them in order and uploading. Its really easy for me. I dont know if anyone outside of my crazy brain can follow! LOL
And then when I reach 100 layouts in any of the albums, I send that folder (album) off to the printers to be printed. I am so close to printing each of my daughter's albums and the girls album as well as the vacations album. Now to wait for Winkflash's flat rate sale so I can get them printed!!

I don't create to print, or make books, I mostly create to play with kits and is my main creative outlet. I just like it and have fun doing the challenges. I file my folders alphabetically by the designers name, under the main store they sell at. If I CT for them (which I am not currently) and they are in more than one store, I copy to that store folder as well, so I don't forget about it.
When I am in my PSE program, and I open my digi files through my EHD, I don't have the Details option, so I have to go in and put them in order manually. I don't know if I can change that or not, I should play around with stuff like that more to learn, but I find that time consuming and frustrating to read a bunch of mumbo jumbo![]()

I put my layout in the same folder that I got the photos from. So, if I scrapped photos from today, the layout would be filed under 2012-September 27.
