I think by now I have read almost every thread for linking from the gallery into a thread, but somehow I don't get it to work. What am I doing wrong??? Especially as every time I try to edit and follow the steps again I need to log out and log in again - very frustrating... :( Your help is really appreciated...

I don't know what you succeeded so I'll start from the beginning.
As you see right above the Quick Reply box, there are a number of teeny icons.

On your image in the gallery right click and choose 'copy image location'. Come back to your post and press the third button from the right and insert that link. You then click on the image, and you'll see the image is with a line all around;

Go back to your image page and copy the link from the Address on the top. Come back to your post, take note the image is still with the line around, press the fourth button from the right and insert that link.
You can then press Go Advanced to see a preview of your post and to see if the image is linked right.

Ricki, thank you so much! (and sorry for my late reply, but I had some internet issues) I will try this again later today, when I have the layouts ready that I'm working on right now.

just an FYI as ricki gave u a great tutorial for this. when i first started years ago i had problems too. (What saved me is knowing how to hand code) when u click on the image box it will open with http:// and it should be highlighted. make sure u do NOT add that code. paste over it or delete it as it will mess up the code and not work :)
Thank you again to both of you :36_1_32:! I think I just got it right and linked my layout to the template challenge thread (and made notes along th way to not forget). Now I'm off to explore how to add a siggi....
