would love to know this as well. i hate that they lose their layers
I open one side, then change the canvas size to 24x12. Then go to the other template, select all layers, then drag them into the new larger template.
I tried "inserting" the png files, but they went in backwards (base paper on top) and it would take just as long rearranging them (and much more confusing) than just copy and pasting like i have been doing! lol
Can you select all of the layers at once and just drag them over to the 12x24 template? Then while all the layers are still selected, you can move them around together...
Yes, you can. I change my view (Window/Arrange) to View all in Windows. The drag (edited my post above, from copy/paste to select/drag) them onto the larger template. They will be in the same order, you just need to put them in the correct position.
2 ways to do this but found this to be the easiest (it is the same just opposite)
go to your first template and select all layers
in your layers palette go to the arrow where u find merger/duplicate/new layers etc. and look for GROUP LAYERS
click that and it will ask u for a name...ie template 1 (it doesn't matter its for u)
this will group everything in ONE sub folder...close the folder so that is all u see and drag that into your document while holding the SHIFT key to center it on your page.
NOW what i do is i have already done this to BOTH templates...u can do it first...last or never whatever works best...
is this what u r asking about????????
btw...with groups...u can turn off individual layers or by clicking on the group turn off the WHOLE GROUP
Here's a couple screen shots... just literally drag the selected layers into the empty space!

lisa is right...the only difference between this way and the way i said is:
one: u have to subfolders u can close and work with individually while also clicking on the group to change sizes without so much clutter
two: mine is for a 12 X 12 not a 2 pager but u can use groups that way too. i LOVE groups...use them all the time for templates...anything i have a LOT of that i want to minimize the visual for.
