View Full Version : What are your kids doing for classroom valentines?

I have a kindergartener and two preschoolers (all boys), so there are three Valentine parties coming up. I do have three packages of store bought Valentines, but I was thinking I'd like to do something more creative than that. I don't think there is anything wrong with the store bought ones. I loved those myself as a kid. I may end up going that route, but I want to explore my options first.

I saw a really cute idea that someone did in their PS/photo editing software. They took a photo of their child and then the child glued one googly eye in the middle of their photo (so they looked like a Cyclops, and made for a lot of laughs). The sentiment said, "Valentine I have my eye on you." I think my kids would love that. The problem is that my 2 three year olds are in the same class and I think I'd like their Valentines to look different. Although it probably doesn't matter too much.

I really love this idea too, but it might mean spending more than I'd like to (and again the two kids in the same class problem arises)

So... what are your kids taking to school for Valentines Day? Are you going to/ have you made something? Are you doing store bought?

If you've seen any neat and interesting ideas for Valentines I'd love to see :)

That is super cute! IDK what we are doing yet...for Travis it will probably be store bought...he has to turn them in tomorrow, and they have to be flat, they are doing a "mail" lesson with it and the kids have little mail hats and they have to address the envelopes and put the valantines in them. LOL. Maybe Tyler and I will get creative. Yours are super cute.

I like that Travis' class is incorporating the curriculum with the Valentines!

I'm going to try it out again. This year. I'm actually taking pictures today so we'll see how it goes. :) I'll post you a pic when I get them done.

I also thought I'd try this one for my baby to give the grandparents

These May be a lot of work for a full class but I did these for Jaden small preschool class one year. I used Julie's template

Julie, that's totally neat how they will mail it. Boo, Saturday mail delivery will end in Aug :(

OOH, I love the kissing hand, that is awesome!! It reminds me of this free app:

I just finished designing the cards for the kids. Going to work on it today with the treat. Need to figure out how to tie it on..lol.
I'll take a pic and post it :)

The ball idea was one of the options I gave Gabe, but he chose star sunglasses with a print out that says "Valentine, you're a star in my eyes!" The sunglasses were 3.99 for a 10 pack at Party City and we needed two 10 packs to cover the class so yes, it's more than buying a box, but it's fun and doesn't include candy.

I liked this ball idea too. I'm just putting a link to the Pinterest Pin: http://pinterest.com/pin/213006257347822631/

Last year I melted crayon pieces into heart molds for heart shaped crayons. Pinterest Pin: http://pinterest.com/pin/106679084895219479/

Lots of fun ideas! I have to work on my crews this weekend! My 2 year old is taking small ziplock bags of teddy gram cookies with a bag topper that says "You're Bear-y Sweet". My 4 year old wants butterflys with a sucker in the middle (so it looks like the body of the butterfly). I have to do something sporty for my 10 year old... and I'm not sure with my 8 year old yet!

I forgot to include this pin. It's Star Wars themed and we're not Star Wars fans, but I still thought it was really cute and similar to the lollipop idea.

Love all of these ideas! But DD's school doesn't do Valentine's day. IDK if I'm happy about this or annoyed lol. I kind of like that they won't waste class time passing out invites to each other but at the same time it is fun to do. (Though I wouldn't make anything. I'd buy whatever Disney Princess crapola Target had lol.) :)

We bought store-boughts. Madi has holographic puppies and kitties and Ethan has Lego Star Wars. It's cheaper and, honestly, going all out for their classes would be sort of worthless because no one else does. We did it for their Kindergarten classes but after, no more:D

Just doing the store bought ones this year. Our school won't allow candy or treats with anything. :(

My kindergartener is very interested in the Star Wars valentine. This is what we were thinking

He was also thinking he'd like to do the same concept for a Power Ranger. My mom got him a Power Ranger costume from Good Will, and he's seen the show once, but he thinks it is favorite lol. Maybe we'll attempt to do something like the Star Wars, but make it Power Ranger and use a lolly pop in his hand (instead of a samurai sword) so it will look like the pics Rachel posted and make "Powerful Fun" Valentines lol. Or maybe we'll do the Star Wars one this year and remember the Power Ranger one for next year lol. The preschool kids will fall into place. Ian (3) will want to do the same Valentine Nolan (5) does, and Isaiah (3) will not care. They should be easy.

Now I might be getting TOO many ideas Ha!

Rachel, Thanks for posting the pics! They are awesome. I can't wait to see how this years turn out.

I printed out paper fishbowls that read "so glad we're in the same school" and slipped them into clear treat bags shaped with a round bottom and fluted top. We are going to put swedish fish inside to complete the look for the older kids, the toddlers get gold fish crackers. Found this one on pinterest. So cute! I will post a pic when we are done.

Teachers are getting chinese take out boxes with candy dipped fortune cookies and hershey kisses inside, with a note that says "I'm so fortunate to have a teacher like you". Also from pinterest. Used this month's buffet Listen To Your Heart paper for this one.

Love hybrids!

Beth, can you do an extra 36 kid valentines and 3 teacher ones? Lol

You know, I DO have 100 of these fish bowl valentines at the ready. They are super easy and the bags come in bundles of 100 and I bought one got one free at Michael's last week. And the fish came home with my husband from the bulk department at Wegmans, and he went nuts with this...so I have like 2 pounds of swedish fish to use up. So Rebecca, come on over! Gosh if you want I can mail the extra treat bags to you and email you the printable.

Here are the chinese take outs/ fortune cookie valentines. You KNOW, fortune cookies are yummy when dipped in candy melts and sprinkles! They were free from the Chinese take out place for us :) And Wegmans gave us $20 bucks off our groceries because their food court was out of them today!

Rah Rah is GRAMMA in our house...hee hee! Cute, huh?
