View Full Version : Without digging into past threads, I've got to ask:

What are some of your best tutorials for PS?

What I mean by that is, I'm looking for shadowing help/technique ..etc.
I notice that I'm sort of all over the map when it comes to shadows -maybe I'm too hard on myself and they are fine, but I know there are tricks.

If you have any other help links or even tricks for other techniques (that you use quite often) I'd love to hear 'em.

I know I should of dug through the forum to see if there was already a thread started re: this type of question but... I didn't. So ... please and thank you! :)

(p.s. if you know of an active thread that does have this sorts of help please link! I know of one, but I like to have more than just one source, if ya get me.)

What PS are you using?

This (http://frickonastick.com/2010/03/shadow-files-the-basics/) is hands down my favorite drop shadow tutorial. I like to use Flerg's free shadows (http://www.flergalicious.com/blog/2007/10/27/drop-shadows/), because I'm lazy though and then I create a layer from the style, duplicate it, and wiggle it around a bit. Making sure you've shadow both sides of your element is what makes it most realistic IMO.

Another thing, that instantly makes a big difference is resizing and sharpening your page before you upload it to a gallery. I use this action (http://blog.trixiescraps.com/2011/05/tips-trends-techniques-tuesday-resize.html), but she also explains how she does it if you have a different program.

The other thing I love to do is look at other people's pages, there are a few sites that do a gallery stand out blog and that makes it easy if you don't have time to look at galleries. You can see what other people are doing and get ideas for your own pages!

But try not to get too caught up in what other people think about your pages. If you worry too much about whether you put something in the "right" place or if you're following the rule of thirds or where your light source is, you'll lose the joy of scrapping and it will become a chore instead of a hobby! Your pages just need to look beautiful to you! : )

P.S. Your pages look beautiful now! : )

Oo, I didn't ask rules on outside linking...if you need to delete the post it's ok!
